Introducing Nannochloropsis Live Phytoplankton:
Nannochloropsis is a genus of microalgae renowned for its exceptional nutritional value and numerous benefits for aquatic life. Packed with essential proteins, fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals, this microscopic powerhouse serves as a vital food source for a wide range of marine organisms, including copepods, rotifers, corals, and filter-feeding invertebrates.
Our Nannochloropsis Live Phytoplankton arrives at your doorstep alive and in optimal condition, ensuring the highest quality for your aquatic system. We take great care to maintain strict quality control measures, including state-of-the-art culturing techniques and expedited shipping methods, to guarantee the freshest and healthiest phytoplankton for your aquarium.
Live phytoplankton will stay fresh and healthy for up to 2 months if you keep it refrigerated. Just shake the bottle every 2-3 days before dosing to prevent the cells to settle together in the bottom which would make them suffocate and die.
Dosing:
Every system is unique but a general guideline would be around 5ml per 10 Gallons every 2-3 days however I'd start with a lower dose at the beginning and observe the tank.
Here are some general dosing instructions to consider:
Start with Small Amounts: Begin by introducing a small quantity of live phytoplankton into your reef tank. This helps to gauge the response of your corals and other organisms to the new food source without overwhelming the system.
Observe and Adjust: Monitor your tank closely after dosing to observe the reactions of your inhabitants. Look for signs of increased activity, improved coloration, and overall health.
Time of Dosing: Dosing live phytoplankton is best done during the daytime when photosynthesis is active. This allows the organisms in your tank to readily consume and utilize the phytoplankton.
Frequency of Dosing: The frequency of dosing can vary depending on your specific tank requirements. As a general guideline, start with dosing every 2-3 days and observe the response of your tank.
Quantity of Dosing: The quantity of live phytoplankton to dose will depend on the size of your tank and the number of organisms present.
Consideration for Filter Feeders: If you have filter-feeding organisms, such as certain corals or invertebrates, target feeding could be beneficial. Use a pipette or feeding tool to directly deliver phytoplankton to these organisms to ensure they receive an adequate food supply.
Water Flow and Mixing: Proper water circulation is important when dosing live phytoplankton. Ensure that the phytoplankton is evenly distributed throughout the tank by adjusting your flow patterns or using a circulation pump.
Remember, every reef tank is unique, and the dosing requirements may vary based on factors such as tank size, inhabitants, and nutrient levels.
